We went to Ruta Oaxaca for dinner. The owner, Carlos, greeted us at the door. He was very friendly and told us about himself and the food at his restaurant. We had the Chicken En Mole and the Ribs. We also had plantains. The presentation of the food was magnificent. The ribs were so tender they fell off the bone. We really enjoyed our meal.

Ruta Oaxaca in Woodbury offers Mexican Cuisine that is a Dream . If you’re looking for the same old Mexican style food that is served in sooooo many restaurants throughout Long Island, then DONT go to Ruta Oaxaca in Woodbury on Jericho Tpke. BUT if you want something special in Mexican cuisine, then make your way to Ruta Oaxaca. We love this restaurant. From the warm and friendly staff, to the authentic and creative cuisine, this location hits the target . If that sounds appealing, then go visit this extraordinary place . This is not a low-end restaurant, it’s moderately priced with tastes and dishes that stand out from the crowd. We just returned from Florida recently, and it was a “go to” destination for us that was way up on our list . When we arrived we were greeted with smiles and hugs from Jackie and others. What made us smile was seeing how packed this restaurant was with couples, families and 2 large parties enjoying their inventive cocktails , Sangria and food delights. The staff was hopping, the bar was jumping and the vibe was flowing. Lively, yet easy to have conversations. WE Loved it. We started with some great cocktails . My wife loves the Paloma ( it’s her favorite drink). My daughter and I selected 2 other refreshing cocktails that paired well with Mexican cuisine. PS. Their chips pretzels are warmed and their salsa is homemade. Our entrees. My daughter had the classic chicken mole. The thick, dark, & rich chocolate sauce coated the tender chicken with flavors that were amazing. Topped with onion Mexican cheese with a sour cream drizzle , it met all expectations. My wife had the fish special. The tender grilled fish filet was plated on a bed of sweet potato puree with a side of root vegetables that was absolutely delicious. I had the bbq ribs in an amazing Smokey and mango sauce with a touch of heat that tickled the tastebuds w meat that fell off the bone. . Dessert. For dessert, they brought us a complimentary coffee flan that was out of this world. It’s a special place you don’t want to miss. So when you want authentic Mexican cuisine that’s notches up from the rest, go and enjoy Ruta Oaxaca! You will be glad you did

Absolutely delicious..we stopped in for appetizers and spicy margaritas and omg..hidden gem. Highly recommend the vegetable empanadas. Soon good!!! And Shrimp Flautas, even the presentation, if the food was spectacular and the owner Pedro, is awesome . Thursday nights Karaoke and Multi cultural DJ... this place..

My husband and I went on a Saturday night for Woman’s international day, so it was super crowded, we had reservations so we only waited about a min to be seated. The staff is friendly and energetic. The chips and salsa given were delicious. For appetizers We started off with the chori queso which was delicious. And I went for the mole enchiladas, If you don’t like spicy food then i definitely don’t recommend to get this dish. On their menus I believe they have a little icon that will indicate if the dish is spicy so look out for that. I really enjoyed the mole and our dessert was the stuffed churros which they were ok not like amazing but good. One last thing, Idk if they do this every weekend but they had mariachi come and play which was nice for us. But not everyone would like that, i would say it was extremely loud. Other than that i had a good meal and a good experience at this place and i would def. Go back again.

This is a special place with a fantastic staff and wonderful owner (Pedro) who takes pride in his heritage, family and cuisine. Such a fun atmosphere with a great energy. If you love tequila, this is your spot! Our server Eric was outstanding. He loved everything about the place that he worked at and his energy was contagious. In addition, his recommendations were spot on! The food was off the charts delicious! The Tacos were great, however the Mole was incredible.....it is Pedro's abubla's recipe! As a matter of fact, he shared the history of her recipe and was so proud we actually tasted her love in each bite. The best that I ever ate! At the end of the night Pedro sat with us and shares wonderful stories about his family and journey. It was truly a treat! This will easily become my regular local stop for excellent Mexican food and some terrific tequila! It truly is a hidden gem!

I didn't think such authentic, delicious Mexican food could be found in Woodbury Long Island. The food was absolutely AMAZING! One bite of the chicken bunuelos has me hooked forever. If you have been looking for authentic mole, this is the place to find it. My husband had a negro modelo Michelada and it was on point. We have finally found "our spot", can't wait to go back.

An absolute gem. Amazing food and the best selection of agave spirits I have seen on Long Island (lots of hard to find bottles of raicilla and Sotol.) Extremely knowledgeable staff Eduardo was our bartender and he made wonderful recommendations. Spoke with the chef Carlos and he expressed his passion for his craft that transcends to the cuisine. Highly recommend and already looking forward to our next visit.

Neat and tidy. Authentic Mexican cuisine. Plenty of variety. Drinks both alcoholic and non alcoholic. Appetizers , entrees, deserts , just too many choices. Quality food, fast service. Chef personally came out to greet the customers.
